Islam is a Religion That Rahmatan Lil 'Alamin

It is true that Islam is a religion that rahmatan lil ' alamin . But many people distort this statement to the understandings are mistaken . So that raises a lot of mistakes in the practice of religion even in a very fundamental thing , that in the matter of belief .
Statement that Islam is a religion that rahmatan lil ' alamin is actually the conclusion of the word of Allah Ta'ala ,

وما أرسلناك إلا رحمة للعالمين

" We have not sent thee , O Muhammad , but as a mercy to all mankind " ( Surat al- Anbiya : 107 )
Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam was sent to bring the teachings of Islam , then Islam is rahmatan lil'alamin , Islam is a mercy to all mankind .
In language ,

الرحمة : الرقة والتعطف

grace means softness combined with compassion ( See Lisaanul Arab , Ibn Mandzur ) . Or in other words can be interpreted with the grace of love . So , the coming of the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam is the mercy of Allah to the whole mankind .
Interpretation Experts Tafsir
1 . Ibn Qayyim Al Jauziyyah in Tafsir Ibn al-Qayyim :
"The opinion is more correct in interpreting this verse is that grace here is general . In this issue , there are two interpretations :
First : The universe in general benefit to the coming of the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam .
People who follow him , to achieve the glory in the world and the hereafter as well .
Fight the unbelievers who he is , the benefits they get are disegerakannya murder and death for them , it's better for them . Because their lives will only increase the pain torment in the Hereafter . Destruction has been set for them . Thus , accelerated death benefit to their more sedentary than in disbelief .
Treaty -bound infidels with him , the benefits to them are allowed to live in this world and in the protection agreement . They are a little more ills than the unbelievers who fought the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam .
Hypocrites , who appeared in Zahir faith alone , they received benefits in the form of blood preservation , wealth , and honor their families . They were treated as other Muslims in inheritance laws and other laws .
And the human race after he was sent , Allah Ta'ala does not provide a thorough torment of mankind on earth . In conclusion , all men benefit from the coming of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam .
Secondly : Islam is mercy for every human being , but believers receive this grace and benefit the world and in the hereafter . While unbelievers reject . So for the unbelievers , Islam remains said to be a mercy to them , but they are reluctant to accept . As if to say ' This is the cure for the sick so and so ' . Suppose that so and so did not take it , the drug is still said to cure "
2 . Muhammad bin Ali Ash Syaukani in Fathul Qadir :
"The meaning of this verse is ' It is not we sent you , O Muhammad , to bring Sharia law , but as a mercy to all human beings without any special circumstances or reasons being the exception ' . In other words , ' the only reason we sent you , O Muhammad , is a vast mercy . Because we sent you to bring something to cause happiness in the afterlife ' "
3 . Muhammad ibn Jarir Tabari Tafsir Tabari in :
" The commentators disagree about the meaning of this verse , about whether all humans are referred to in this paragraph are all good men believers and unbelievers ? Or is it just human believers ? Most commentators argue , is the whole human being is both believers and unbelievers . Those with a history of underlying Ibn Abbas radhiallahu'anhu in interpreting this verse :

من آمن بالله واليوم الآخر كتب له الرحمة في الدنيا والآخرة , ومن لم يؤمن بالله ورسوله عوفي مما أصاب الأمم من الخسف والقذف

" Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day , set for him mercy in the world and the hereafter . But anyone who does not believe in Allah and His Messenger , is a form of mercy for those with not overwritten previous calamities that befall people , as they were all drowned in huge waves or in terpa "
in other history :

تمت الرحمة لمن آمن به في الدنيا والآخرة , ومن لم يؤمن به عوفي مما أصاب الأمم قبل

" Grace is perfect in this world and the Hereafter for those who believe in Allah . Meanwhile, for those who are reluctant believer , shape mercy for them is not overwritten by misfortune that befell the people of earlier "
Opinion of the other commentators say that the question is only of believers . They brought the history of Ibn Zaid in interpreting this verse :

فهو لهؤلاء فتنة ولهؤلاء رحمة , وقد جاء الأمر مجملا رحمة للعالمين . والعالمون هاهنا : من آمن به وصدقه وأطاعه

" With the coming of the Messenger of Allah , there is a man who gets disaster , got no mercy , although the form of the mention in this verse is general in nature , ie as a mercy to all mankind . All humans are referred to here are those who believe in Allah , and obey justify "
Correct opinion of these two opinions are the opinions of the first , as the history of Ibn Abbas . Ie Allah sent Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam as a mercy to all mankind , both believers and unbelievers . Mercy for the believers because God gave instructions to the Message of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam . He sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam incorporate believers into heaven with faith and their charity to the teachings of God . While mercy for the Gentiles , a disaster can not disegerakannya 's people who deny the doctrine of God History " ( translated in summary ) .
4 . Muhammad bin Ahmad Al Qurtubi in Tafsir Al Qurtubi
" Said bin Jubair saying of Ibn Abbas , he said :

كان محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم رحمة لجميع الناس فمن آمن به وصدق به سعد , ومن لم يؤمن به سلم مما لحق الأمم من الخسف والغرق

" Muhammad sallallaahu ' alaihi wa sallam is a mercy to all mankind . For those who believe and justify his teachings , will get happiness . For those who do not believe in him , be saved from the disaster that befell the people of earlier form of sunk into the earth or submerged in water "
Ibn Zaid said :

أراد بالعالمين المؤمنين خاص

" The definition of ' all men ' in this verse is only those who believe " "
5 . Ash Shabuni in Shafwatut Tafasir
" The purpose of this verse is ' It is not we sent you , O Muhammad , but as a mercy for all creatures ' . As in a hadith :

إنما أنا رحمة مهداة

" Actually I was awarded mercy ( by Allah ) " ( Narrated by Al- Bukhari in Al ' Ilal Al Kabir 369 , Al Bayhaqi in Syu'abul Iman 2/596 . Hadith is in the right - Saheeh Al - Albani in Lineage Ash Shahihah , 490 , also in Saheeh Al- Jami ' , 2345 )
People who receive this grace and grateful for this favor , he will get happiness in this world and the hereafter .
Allah Ta'ala does not say ' rahmatan lilmu'minin ' , but said ' rahmatan lil ' Alamin ' because Allah Ta'ala wants to give mercy to all creatures with the coming of the leader of the Prophets , Muhammad sallallaahu ' alaihi wa sallam . He was sent to bring great happiness . He also save humanity from the great tribulation . He was the cause of the achievement of various goodness in the world and the hereafter . He gave enlightenment to the human who had previously been in ignorance . He provides guidance to the Man who had previously been in error . This is what the grace of God for all mankind . Even unbelievers benefit from this grace , that postponement of their punishment . In addition they were no longer overwritten doom turned into an animal form , or buried into the earth , or drowned by water "
Misguided understanding
Problems arise when people interpret this verse at random , capitalized, language comprehension and logic are shallow . Or try to impose meaning of the verse to suit his desires . The understanding of which is :
1 . Compassionate with unbelievers
Some people invited to be filial to the Gentiles , not to hate them , follow their events , are reluctant to call them infidels , or even advocated that all religions are equal and true , with evidence the verse :

وما أرسلناك إلا رحمة للعالمين

" We have not sent thee , O Muhammad , but as a mercy for the universe " ( Surat al- Anbiya : 107 )
Though not so interpretation of this verse . Allah Ta'ala make Islam as a mercy to all mankind , but the form is not a blessing for the Gentiles to be filial to them . Even been described by commentators , that the form of grace for them is not overwritten by misfortune that befell the people of the past . This is the mercy of Allah against unbelievers , of the explanation of Ibn Abbas Radhiallahu'anhu friend .
Even the consequences of belief in Allah and His Messenger are hated all forms of worship to other than Allah , hates the forms of opposition to the teachings of the Prophet sallallaahu ' alaihi wa sallam , and hate the people who do it . As Allah Ta'ala :

لا تجد قوما يؤمنون بالله واليوم الآخر يوادون من حاد الله ورسوله ولو كانوا آباءهم أو أبناءهم أو إخوانهم أو عشيرتهم

" You're not going to find something people who believe in Allah and the Hereafter , mutual compassion with those who oppose Allah and His Messenger , even though the people were their fathers , or the children or their brothers or their families " ( Surat al - Mujadalah : 22 )
Note however , must hate not mean to kill , injure , or harm unbelievers who we meet . As described by Ibn al-Qayyim in his commentary on the above , that there are infidels that must be fought , others should not be harmed .
Letter makes Al Anbiya verse 107 as the argument of religious pluralism is also a distorted understanding . Because of the verses of the Qur'an does not contradict itself . Is not Allah the Almighty himself who said :

إن الدين عند الله الإسلام

" Religion is blessed by Allah is Islam " ( Surah Al 'Imran : 19 )
Almighty Allah also says :

ومن يبتغ غير الإسلام دينا فلن يقبل منه وهو في الآخرة من الخاسرين

" Whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will not ever be accepted ( the religion ) thereof , and in the Hereafter he is among those who are the losers " ( Surah Al 'Imran : 85 )
The person who brings the issue of pluralism may interpret ' Islamic ' in these verses to ' surrender ' . So long as all religions true surrender to God , they said . It is sufficient to charge them with gibberish words of the Prophet sallallaahu ' alaihi wa sallam :

الإسلام أن تشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وأن محمدا رسول الله وتقيم الصلاة وتؤتي الزكاة وتصوم رمضان وتحج البيت إن استطعت إليه سبيلا

" Islam is thou bear witness that indeed there is no god worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah , you establish the prayer , issued alms, fasting during Ramadan and the pilgrimage to the House work if you are able to do it " ( Narrated by Muslim no.8 )
Surat al- Anbiya verse precisely this 107 adlalah crushing rebuttal to religious pluralism . Because this verse is the proposition that all human beings on earth shall be converted to Islam . Because Islam is ' lil Alamin ' , dedicated to all human beings on earth . As explained above Imam Ibn al-Qayyim : " Islam is a mercy for every human being , but those who believe receive this grace and benefit the world and in the hereafter . While unbelievers reject " .
2 . Compassionate in kemungkaran
Most of the Muslims to let people leave the prayer , allow prostitution is rampant , allowing women to open their private parts in public even letting practices polytheism and reluctant to advise them for fear the evildoers offended if advised her , then said : " Islam khan lil rahmatan the worlds , full of compassion " . It is strange .
Though not as tafsir surat Al -Anbiya verse 107 's . Islam as God's grace is not meaningful kemungkaran compassion for perpetrators and let them in kemungkarannya . Sebagaiman Tabari in his commentary described above , " Mercy to the believers that God gave instructions to cause the Message of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam . He sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam incorporate believers into heaven with faith and their charity toward the doctrine of God " .
Then the mercy of Allah to the believers is to give them instructions for running perinta the commandments of God and away from what is forbidden by Allah , so that they reach Jannah . In other words , if we also feel love and affection to our brothers who do immoral , we should advise him and he did deny immoral and led him to perform good deeds .
And attitudes necessary to deny any mercy immoral . Duly denial of immoral attitudes precede gentle and affectionate and not put the rough and tough attitude . Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said :

إن الرفق لا يكون في شيء إلا زانه . ولا ينزع من شيء إلا شانه

" It is not that there is tenderness on anything , except to decorate it . It is not the softness was gone from something , but will make it worse " ( Narrated by Muslim no. 2594 )
3 . Deviation compassion in religion
Adalagi who use this verse to legalize various forms of heresy , polytheism and superstition . Because they assume the forms of such deviations are differences of opinion should be tolerated so that they also said, "Let us with our understanding , please do not disturb us , not Islam rahmatan lil'alamin ? " . It is strange .
Interpret grace in Al Anbiya verse 107 with compassion and tolerance towards all existing understanding on the Muslims , is very much interpretation . No commentators who interpret such .
Ummah body split into various groups is a fact , and had been warned long ago by the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam . And people who say that it's true of all sizes and all of them can be tolerated no different from people who say all religions are the same . Among the various classes of course there are right and wrong . And we must follow the correct , ie in accordance with the teachings of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam . Even Ibn al-Qayyim said about grace in Surat al- Anbiya verse 107 : " Those who follow him , to achieve the glory in the world and the hereafter as well " . That is, Islam is a mercy of Allah to the people who follow the correct groups that want to follow the teachings of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam .
Statement ' let us with our understanding , we do not disturb ' only applies to the heathen . As stated in the letter of Al Kaafirun :

قل يا أيها الكافرون لا أعبد ما تعبدون ولا أنتم عابدون ما أعبد ولا أنا عابد ما عبدتم ولا أنتم عابدون ما أعبد لكم دينكم ولي دين

" Say : ' O unbelievers , I will not worship that which ye worship . And ye are not worshipers of the Lord that which I worship . And I've never been a worshiper of what you worship . and you do not have ( also ) be a worshiper of God that I worship . For you your religion , and for me , my religion ' "
Meanwhile, fellow Muslims , should not be so . Even if his counsel shall fall into error . Which was duly advised airy receive advice . Is not that believers encourage one another in goodness ?

والعصر إن الإنسان لفي خسرإلا الذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات وتواصوا بالحق وتواصوا بالصبر

" For the sake of time . Behold, the man is really in loss , Except those who believe and do righteous deeds and counsel advised to adhere to truth and advised counsel patience in order to fulfill " ( Surat al- ' Asr : 1-3 )
And advise those who do deviate in religion is a form of affection to the person. Even people who know the brother fell into the irregularities of religion but silence , he got sin . As word of the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ' alaihi wa sallam :

إذا عملت الخطيئة في الأرض كان من شهدها فكرهها كمن غاب عنها . ومن غاب عنها فرضيها , كان كمن شهدها

" If you are aware of an error ( in religion ) happens on the earth , the people who look directly deny it , he just like people who do not look directly ( not sin ) . People who do not see directly, but the pleasure of the errors , the same as the person he saw immediately ( got sin ) " ( Narrated by Abu Dawood no.4345 , dihasankan Al-Albani in Saheeh Sunan Abi Daud )
Disagreement can not be beaten even average that all opinions be tolerated . Do we tolerate some Sufis who argue that the five daily prayers are not compulsory for those who reach a certain level ? Or are some people who think that prayer kejawen important ' remember Allah ' without having to perform the prayer ? Do we tolerate the Ahmadiyya opinion saying that the pilgrimage to Makkah should not ? It can not be tolerated . If all people think tolerated , shattering the religion . However, the opinions are based on authentic theorem , which postulates right way , using the rules of the scholars , only then can we tolerate .
4 . Underestimate the problems of Aqeedah
By using this verse , some people are reluctant to preach an underestimate and the true aqidah . Because they consider only preach aqidah would divide the ummah and resentment that does not conform to the principle that Islam is rahmatan lil ' alamin .
Meditate on the words of Ash Shabuni in interpreting rahmatan lil ' Alamin : " He sallallaahu ' alaihi wa sallam gave enlightenment to the human who previously were in ignorance . He provides guidance to the Man who had previously been in error . This is what God's grace to all men " . Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam to be a mercy to all mankind because he brought the teachings of monotheism . Because people in those days before he was sent in error to the gods in the form of worship besides Allah , though their worship to God as well . And this is the core teaching of the Apostles . As Allah Ta'ala :

ولقد بعثنا في كل أمة رسولا أن اعبدوا الله واجتنبوا الطاغوت

" And verily We sent messengers to every nation ( to call ) : ' Worship Allah alone , and depart from Evil ' " ( Surat an -Nahl : 36 )
Besides, is not this a matter of belief can determine the fate of a person whether he will be eternally in hell or not ? Allah the Exalted says :

نه من يشرك بالله فقد حرم الله عليه الجنة ومأواه النار وما للظالمين من أنصار

"Those who ascribe ( something to ) Allah , then surely Allah forbid him Paradise , and his place is hell , it is not there for people unjust helpers " ( Surat al- Maidah : 72 )
Therefore , is there anything more urgent than the problem ?
In conclusion , it was preaching monotheism , calls for right beraqidah is a form of mercy from Allah Ta'ala . Because preaching monotheism brought by the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam is the grace of God , then how could the cause split the Ummah ? Precisely kesyirikanlah actually the cause disunity of the ummah. As Allah Ta'ala :

ولا تكونوا من المشركين من الذين فرقوا دينهم وكانوا شيعا كل حزب بما لديهم فرحون

" Do not you including the people to Allah , those who divide their religion into sects and their . Each group was proud of what is in their class " ( Surat ar- Rum : 31-32 )
True understanding
Based on the interpretation of the scholars are reliable commentators , some benefit that we can take from this verse is :
In the Prophet Muhammad sent him sallallaahu ' alaihi wa sallam as the messenger of Allah is mercy of Allah to the whole mankind .
All humans on earth obliged to Islam .
Shari'a laws and rules in Islam is a mercy of Allah Almighty to His creatures .
All humans have benefited with the Message of Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ' alaihi wa sallam
Perfect grace obtained only by those who believe in the teachings brought by Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ' alaihi wa sallam
All humans have benefited with the Message of Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam .
People who believe in the teachings brought by Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam , he justifies and obedient to him , will get happiness in this world and the hereafter .
Infidels who fight Islam also get a blessing with the Message of Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam , namely the mandatory fight against them . Because they are in the world lives longer will only add to the pain torments of hell in the hereafter .
Pagans bound by the agreement musliminjuga got grace with the Message of Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam . That is by prohibiting the killing and seizing their property .
In general , the Gentiles obtain mercy with the Message of Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam be avoided from the wrath that befell the followers of former opposed to God . So that after the coming of the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam , there will be no infidels are punished in a way entirely submerged or buried in the earth entirely or converted into animal entirely .
Hypocrites who claim to be believers in oral dissenter in the liver but also get a blessing with the coming of the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam . They have benefited in the form of blood preservation , wealth , and honor their families . They were treated as other Muslims in inheritance laws and other laws . But in the Hereafter Allah will put them at the bottom of Hell .
The mission of the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam be a godsend because he has given to human enlightenment initially in ignorance and give guidance to people who initially were in error in the form of worship to other than Allah .
Some scholars argue , grace in this verse is given also to the Gentiles , but they refused. So that only those believers who get it .
Some scholars argue , grace in this verse is given only the believers .
May Allah Ta'ala continue to bestow His mercy to us all , that with His grace because we are gathered in His Jannah .
